ZetaDisplay acquires company in Finland
ZetaDisplay AB is now establishing itself on the Finnish market by acquiring Popcom Oy in Helsingfors. The investment constitutes a further step in ZetaDisplay’s endeavour to become the Nordic countries’ leading supplier of mobile company information, also known as Digital Signage. This industry is enjoying strong growth, and through its acquisition, ZetaDisplay will benefit from operations in the four main Nordic countries and greater opportunities to expand.
ZetaDisplay is a leading supplier of digital signage on flat screens within the retail industry and the public environment on the Nordic market. ZetaDisplay has a good 40 employees and its customers include ICA, which is Sweden’s largest supermarket. Over the past year, ZetaDisplay has continued to grow in Sweden and has started a subsidiary in Norway. The company established itself on the Danish market in the previous year.
“Our acquisition in Finland now affords ZetaDisplay activities in all four of the main Nordic countries. This allows us to meet the retail industry’s need for Nordic suppliers who can help to build up the brand names in the same way on all markets. It also means that we can expand more quickly and better see to the needs of the local customers,” comments Leif Liljebrunn, Deputy MD of ZetaDisplay.
Popcom Oy, which originated in Metronome Film & Television in Finland, has held a strong position on the Finnish market within Digital Signage for many years. Its customers include the major retail chain Kesko, the State Alcohol Retailing Monopoly Alko and the State gaming company RAY. Popcom is being acquired from the company’s MD Jens Helin, who will also remain in the company. The company will change its name to ZetaDisplay Finland Oy.
“The Finnish market is enjoying strong growth, and we’ve established cooperation with several of the major retail companies in recent years. The shops using ZetaDisplay put both parties in an even stronger position in that we’re able to jointly build on our experiences of both Kesko and ICA, as well as many other leading retail companies,” says Jens Helin.
ZetaDisplay Finland will offer everything from concept development, test installations and content production for the delivery of screens, studio software, operation, monitoring and PlayOut. Our location in Helsingfors will also mean that the company will be the Group’s local supplier in Finland when Nordic supply agreements are signed. The company has seven employees and an annual turnover of around SEK 8 million. The parties have agreed not to reveal the purchase price.
